Originally formed in Pittsburgh, PA as “Chip & The Charge Ups” in 2018 by the unique family team of Chip Dominick & then 16-year old Maleena Dominick, the band later added powerhouse drummer, Nolan Allen, to round out their thunderous sound.  Chip & The Charge Ups released four albums and has been voted “Best Rock Band” once, “Best Punk Band” twice, and “Best Alternative Band” four times in the Iron City Rocks Pittsburgh Music Awards.

 

The Charge Ups are making 2026 their most ambitious year to date.  First, by tweaking their name.  Second, by sharing lead vocal duties somewhat equally between members of the trio.  And, third, by outdoing KISS through simultaneously releasing solo albums from each member plus their “crown jewel” – a full band album entitled “King for a Day” on September 4.  The Charge Ups are determined and poised to stand out as royalty among their pop-punk peers.

 

Chip & The Charge Ups previous album, 2023’s "What Happened to the Boy Next Door?," has earned the band incredible critical acclaim:

Some of the band's most electrifying performances have been delivered at prominent music festivals and while opening for national acts including Dirty Honey, Dee Snider, Nita Strauss, and Liliac.

The Charge Ups’ Pittsburgh-themed holiday song, “Black and Gold Christmas” has been featured on three network television stations, put into rotation on three radio stations, reviewed by countless print and online publications, and received hundreds of thousands of views of its music video.  The songs from the new “King for a Day” album will only bolster the songwriting legacy of Chip Dominick – one of Pennsylvania’s most prolific songwriters – who has already received FM radio airplay for 34 songs that he has written or co-written.
