In preparation for COVID-era Halloween, Jimmy Fallon did a hilarious skit on The Tonight Show.  In the skit, Fallon played "the second bass player for the gothabilly band, The Bone Goblins."  At that point, a photo of the band was shown.  It just so happened that the photo was of Chip's previous band and Fallon's face was photoshopped over one of the member's faces!  You can watch the clip to see for yourself!

Chip & The Charge Ups were named the week's Featured Artist by Smile Radio in the United Kingdom.  As part of this honor, Smile Radio played five songs from Lightning in Our Veins during its April 17, 2020 drive time show.  The show is archived online for on-demand listening.

The Ballroom Blitz Radio Show, broadcast on 105.7FM in Ipswitch, UK, named Chip & The Charge Ups their "Band of the Day" on April 13, 2020.  In a review of the band on its facebook page, Ballroom Blitz referred to the songs on Lightning in Our Veins as "infectious power-pop and pop-punk tunes."  The post also said that the new album "is well worth investigating by fans of Green Day, Ramones and Weezer (to name but three)" and declared that the Charge Ups "have a promising future ahead."

The Pittsburgh Current reviewed Lightning in Our Veins and - as is usually the case with the work of world-class music editor, Margaret Welsh - there were plenty of interesting journalistic gems in the article.  Welsh writes that Lightning in Our Veins "is a high-energy celebration of what it means to really, really love music" and that "it’s hard not to be swept up in the raw excitement that radiates from this record."

94.5FM 3WS, an iHeartRadio station and one of the few Pittsburgh radio stations that plays only Christmas music during the holiday season, added "Black and Gold Christmas" to its rotation.  The song was first played on December 4, 2019 at 1:54pm by legendary on-air personality Sheri Van Dyke.

Riding the wave of the "Black and Gold Christmas" phenomenon, Chip & The Charge Ups were asked by Pittsburgh's NBC affiliate, WPXI, to perform the song in the televised 2019 WPXI Holiday Parade.  Preceding the performance, WPXI called the song "the perfect tune to kick off the holidays in the 'burgh" and said that the song "not only captured the Christmas spirit, but everything we know and love about Pittsburgh!"

EMSU Media recently dedicated a podcast to "Black and Gold Christmas."  Guests on the podcasts included Chip as well as the Vice President of Marketing from the band's charity partner, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  They discussed the song, the video (including the story behind capturing a shot of the Sinkhole Bus), and how the band is leveraging the song's popularity to raise money to provide meals to people in need.  Host Emmy said that "Black and Gold Christmas" is "perfect for the holiday season."  She also touted how Chip & The Charge Ups are "doing amazing work in Pittsburgh" through the song, video and the charity partnership.

Iron City Rocks recently interviewed Chip as well as Chip & The Charge Ups' charity partner, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  The duo discussed the making of "Black and Gold Christmas" and how the band is utilizing the song's popularity to help those in need.

Allegheny West magazine featured a story about "Black and Gold Christmas" in the Holiday Guide section of its November/December edition.  It referred to "Black and Gold Christmas" as a "special rockin' holiday tribute to Pittsburgh" and discussed how Chip & The Charge Ups is leveraging the song to raise money for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Chip and Maleena were recently interviewed by the Build The Scene podcast about the phenomenon that "Black and Gold Christmas" is becoming.  They were also joined by Brian Gulish, VP of Marketing for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, who talked about how the band is using "Black and Gold Christmas" to help feed the hungry.  In his write-up of the episode, host Bill Domiano wrote that “'Black and Gold Christmas' serves as a fun track that I can see being adopted into Pittsburgh culture with its powerful performances and excellent songwriting."

Western Pennsylvania's 97.7FM The Rock Station gave Chip & The Charge Ups' new holiday song, "Black and Gold Christmas," its radio debut.  To commemorate the occasion, Chip stopped in the station's studios for an interview and brought Beth Burrell from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  Chip & The Charge Ups have partnered with the Food Bank and will be donating 100% of the profits from the sale of "Black and Gold Christmas" t-shirts to the Food Bank.  In the abstract for the archived episode, 97.7 wrote that "Black and Gold Christmas" is a "song for Yinzer’s across the country to take hold of and show their pride."

WPPJ Radio today launched a new YouTube series called "WPPJ Radio Sessions."  The terrestrial radio station selected Chip & The Charge Ups as the first act to be featured.  Watch Chip & Jeff perform "By The Tracks" in the WPPJ studios!

Chip & The Charge Ups were featured in a huge, full-color photograph on the front page of The Northside Chronicle.  The feature was part of the newspaper's coverage of the Deutschtown Music Festival which featured "over 300 bands."

Comedy Central's "Lights Out With David Spade" show licensed a pic of Chip & The Charge Ups to use in a bit where they photoshopped David Spade's face and the faces of his guests onto the band members' bodies for comedic effect. WDVE FM in Pittsburgh plays Chip & The Charge Ups' "The Ol' Two-Niner" every Wednesday morning during hockey season when it introduces legendary Pittsburgh Penguins player and current announcer, Phil Bourque.  The station even played the song during a rare off-season, July appearance by Bourque.  During the segment, legendary DJ Val Porter called the song "a good headbanging song" and Bourque said it makes him "wanna reach down, turn up the volume...it gets ya fired up!"

Chip & The Charge Ups opened for internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso, Nita Strauss, on May 22, 2019. Nita and her band were listening to the opening set from the dressing room and were impressed with Chip & The Charge Ups' Poison/Green Day mashup, "Good Riddance, Fallen Angel." So impressed that Nita raved about it to the crowd later in the evening. Her words were captured on video by leading rock publication, The Pure Rock Shop.

The Tribune-Review, an iconic Pennsylvania newspaper, previewed an upcoming Air Supply concert with an article about experiences with the band's music.  Chip & The Charge Ups' frontman, Chip Dominick, was quoted extensively in the article.  Chip shared a story of how Air Supply became the soundtrack to a memorable moment while he and his wife were expecting their first child.

Chip & The Charge Ups co-hosted Season 3 Episode 8 of "The Blast Furnace."  The episode featured an extended interview with the entire band, with questions ranging from the history of the band to personal discussions revealing each member's favorite movies, hobbies and fast food restaurants.  You'll also see and hear an exclusive performance of "By The Tracks" actually filmed by train tracks!

Just prior to the album's public release, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reviewed "Flow of the Current, Part II (-)" and previewed the associated Album Release Party.  The review described each track, including the "catchy lead track 'Sunshine, Take Me Away.'"  In a quote, Chip revealed what he calls the "special sauce" of the band.
